Program of Interest

The MDiv is a three-year program (78 credits) and is the foundational professional degree for ministry. It is designed to prepare students for the diverse ministries of congregational leadership, for graduate study in theology and related disciplines, for various types of chaplaincy, for mission work at home and abroad, and for other forms of church vocation.

The MTS is a flexible two-year academic degree (48 credits) designed to equip graduates for a doctoral level program, teaching positions, or for various forms of specialized ministry.

The MTE is a 13-month program (36 credits) that forms leaders for service by immersing participants in a community of embodied theological reflection, rooted in PTS's Farminary, and by attending to the intimate connections among land, space, soil, place, and neighbor.

The MAT (Justice and Public Life) is a hybrid part-time graduate program (36 credits) that can be completed in two years and is designed for those who wish to lead social change towards justice.

The MACEF is a two-year professional degree (52.5 credits) that includes foundational studies in Bible, theology, church history, and practical theology. The MACEF is designed to prepare students for the ministry of education and formation in congregational and institutional settings, and to provide training for teaching the Christian religion in church or secular schools.

The Dual MDiv/MACEF is a four-year program (103 credits) designed for those who want to complete both degrees in a streamlined format and wish to pursue theological studies as related to areas of Christian education and formation.

The one-year ThM program (24 credits) is designed for students who wish to improve or deepen their preparation for ministry beyond the level reached by their MDiv degree or MTS, or who desire to acquire preparation for specialized ministries of the church.

The PhD program at Princeton Theological Seminary forms scholars, servants, and leaders of the church and the academy through constructive, critical engagement with the Christian tradition in its complexity and diversity, and where appropriate, in conversation with other religious and intellectual traditions in their multiplicity and variety.
